I simply pinned the tracing paper to the borders of the quilt and sewed thru the paper to do the quilting. This works pretty well for me. Especially for a little quilt which doesn't require too much thought.

All Done
As much as I enjoy piecing and especially hand appliqué, I find the quilting process to be the hardest for me. To finish this little quilt, I combed through several books until I found a cable pattern that I liked. I ran it through my printer/ copy/ scanner and reduced it a couple of times until I found a size that worked. Then I traced the pattern onto tissue paper.

This piece is now done and ready to gift to my friend. I made this for the quilt of the month being sponsored by Kathleen Tracy at the Sentimental Quilter blog.

Really looks great! Such a special gift!!! Can empathize with you on the quilting pattern. Sometimes I just get too bogged down in possibilities!!
ReplyDeleteI struggle with the quilting, too. Have the hardest time deciding what the quilt needs. You made a good call and this quilt is so cute. If I was on Pinterest (which I'm not) I would "pin" it! : )
ReplyDeleteit's very pretty Kris - you do very nice work!
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt and what a good idea to sew through tracing paper instead of drawing the lines onto the quilt - I am still only starting out with quilting and the only few things I have made so far I have either followed the lines/ditches already there or just wobbled the item around in a mad fashion under a quilting foot - I will give this idea a try to try and get some uniformity in my stitches! Thanks for commenting on my blog during the blog hop (wasnt that such good fun!) - the farmyard hanger I got from a shop in England - the link is here http://www.cottonpatch.co.uk/acatalog/16__Quilt_Hangers.html but I am sure it is American so you should be able to find a store over there that will stock it.
ReplyDeleteVery nice!! I love using tissue paper for quilting. The hardest part is figuring out what patter to quilt. But looks like you hit it perfectly with this one.
ReplyDeleteso cute. I need to remind myself about using the tissue paper technique. thanks for sharing that.
