Designing Monday

I finished hand quilting the 12 Days of Christmas mystery quilt from Temecula Quilt Co. and got it bound while I was at my stitching group this week.

I was hoping to put together 1 block each day for the Eye Fooler quilt, but I was busy doing lots of things this week, so I only finished 2 completely and got the 3rd block nearly done. I am piecing the small fillers around the edge as I go so that I make sure I don't have too many of any one color. It is really a stunning quilt as the pieces go together. I love the high contrast of light and dark. My biggest challenge seems to be getting the seams pressed correctly and to lay flat. There are so many seams!

Happy quilting. Stop by Judy's blog to see what else is going on.

  3. The Eye Fooler Quilt is really fun to look at. Some of those scrappy quilts do present pressing challenges! How do you figure them out when you don't have them written for you. (I'm wondering because my recent Waste Not Want Not quilt, I never could completely figure it out and sometimes just put the seams together as they came)

  8. I just love the eye fooler quilt top. I have been doing more and more of my work with scraps and I can see one of these in my future. The pressing issue is a problem for me too. I am not obsessive about it but I do like my tops to look good front and back. Sometimes I am patient enough to change seams so they butt together nicely (when I assemble blocks) but sometimes nothing seems to work!

  22. I love your Eye Fooler scrap quilt too. Is that a pattern or are you making it up as you go? You could press all the seams open and then you wouldn't have to worry about where they come together.
