Travelling

We spent last weekend at the wedding of a friend's son in Illinois and then on to my hometown in Southern Indiana to visit friends.  We took a day and drove to French Lick to see the resorts.  I could not remember if I had ever been there and did not recognize either one.

We stopped first at West Baden which was a huge round hotel.  Here are photos:

I took a bunch more but I don't want to bore you.  Then we went to the French Lick resort which is a block down the street.  More opulence!

If you happen to stay here, let me know.  I would like to know how the rich and famous live!!

Disappearing 4 Patch

I pieced this quilt last April or May from a layer cake that I received from Pat Sloan in a giveaway on her blog.  I had to add some light fabrics, but all of the dark is from the layer cake. I love the bright colors. This line is called Eat Your Fruits N Veggies.  I made the top larger and then realized that it was too big for the specifications I was given.  This quilt will go to a local pediatrics unit.  So I had to remove half of a vertical and half of a horizontal row.  I just used one of those on the back and now have some leftovers for another quilt in the future.

The turkeys seem to be back in our yard.  I saw these babies with their mom a couple of days ago and then one brave one made it up on our deck!

Designing Monday

It's time to quilt.  I finished piecing this together and it's basted for quilting.  I think I am going to try hand quilting since I just took a class and I need to practice.  Wish me luck!  This quilt is for the Quilt of the Month on Sentimental Quilter's Yahoo Group.

Score!

This weekend is the Warehouse Sale for Primitive Gatherings in Menasha, WI which fortunately for me is not too many miles down the road.  I zoomed over there yesterday to get in line for the 8 am opening.    They were all ready to go with rotary cutters in hand.  They had kits, patterns, decor items and lots of fabric on the bolt and in pre-cuts.  I managed to spend an hour and several $$ finding these lovely treasures.

There were quite a few bolts of fabric to choose from-- most of it was reproduction fabric plus a few bolts of flannel.  None of it was Lisa's Primitive Gatherings fabric, at least not on the bolt.  There were some pre-cuts.

As I was leaving the house I reminded my husband that I was on my way to the Warehouse Sale.  He asked me to check on the price of the warehouse as he was pretty sure I am going to need one soon to store all my stuff... Ha Ha.

Designing Monday

Not much sewing going on here.   Sentimental Quilter's Yahoo Group is hosting another small quilt of the month for August and it is simple 9 patches, so I whipped up a few of those to get it going.  Hopefully I can assemble the quilt top this week and be done.  I enjoy making little quilts so much, but really how many of these do I need?  I give them away, too, as gifts and still I keep making them because I love finishing something and I love being able to quilt them on my machine with little effort or aggravation.
