Designing Monday

The countdown has begun.  Are we all ready?  Every time I think I am done with my Christmas prep, I think of something else I forgot  -- another gift to buy or make,  cards to mail, etc.  You know what I'm talking about.

I jumped out of bed this morning and got busy working on this block.  It is a pattern from appleavenuequilts.com. I found some more HST's that I had tucked away and that made it go together very quickly.   I should be able to finish it today and have it wrapped and under the tree by tomorrow.

I got the hexie quilt bound yesterday and it will be on its way to a friend's house by this afternoon.

I quilted the snowflake block that I had machine appliquéd.  It had a pooch in the middle of the snowflake when I got it done.  You know what I mean?  a place in the middle that sticks up and it just won't lay down.  So I punted it.  I hate doing work on something and it doesn't work out, but I know the amount of work to fix it is way more than the time it would take to start over, esp during the holidays when I just don't have those spare minutes.

Hope your countdown days are stress free and fun.  Take a look at Judy's blog to see some beautiful designs and that will get you in the mood to relax and maybe sing some carols.

  1. Oh do I know what your are talking about... when I do projects on my sewing machine they usually have a pleat in it. I use a long arm and it helps but there are times..... hope you get everything done for Christmas. I haven't got much decorating done but the shopping is getting done. I may try a few small little quilted things yet.

  4. I took a break from those "countdown projects" yesterday and just played with some leftover triangle squares from another project and it really helped energize me to get back to the countdown ... I love the tree block with all those scrappy triangles--I hope we get to see it when you're finished with it.

  5. Ah, the Princess Zena look. I used to have that problem with lemoyne star blocks using 45 degree diamonds.

  6. Love that hexie quilt! The background really sets off the colors! There is a time for everything and a break may be what's needed for all of us! hugs.....
